What is this procedure?

This is a request to register a baby in the Municipal Population Register who is not registered in any municipality and whose parents or legal guardians are registered in El Prat de Llobregat.

The Municipal Population Register is the administrative register that lists the residents of a municipality and constitutes proof of their residence. Each municipality is responsible for the creation, management and maintenance of its register. In addition, the data from the Register have a statistical use, providing the population figure by sex, age, place of origin, etc. of the municipality.

Who can apply for it?

The baby's parents or legal guardians.

What documentation must be submitted?

  • Original identity document of the minor's parents or legal guardians.
  • Original Family Book or birth certificate if registered with parents.
  • If you register with one of the parents, you must provide authorization from the parent who is not registered with you or an original legal document that grants you custody and guardianship of the minor.
  • If registering without parents, reliable authorization from the parents or whoever has custody and guardianship, with original identity documents.
