What is this procedure?

This is the request for a certificate that accredits the registration of a person in the Population Register of Prat de Llobregat in a specific period and with a date prior to April 1, 1986. If so requested, the people who live or used to live together can also be listed.

The Population Register is an official administrative register managed by each town council, which contains all the people who usually live in a municipality. Registration in this register, called empadronament, is mandatory for all residents and constitutes proof of their habitual residence, granting them the right to access public services and participate in electoral processes. 

What is the Register?

• It is an administrative record. 

• Contains the data of all people who habitually reside in a municipality. 

• The town councils are responsible for creating, maintaining and managing the population register. 

What does registration grant?

• The condition of being a neighbor. 

• Proof of your habitual residence in a municipality. 

• Right to access public services such as health, education or social services. 

• The possibility of exercising the right to vote in municipal and general elections.

All people residing in a municipality must be registered in the population register.

Unlike the population census, the register is constantly updated, with additions, deletions and modifications.

Access to the population register data is regulated by data protection law.

The data from the register are fundamental for the preparation of the electoral census and for the planning of public policies and municipal infrastructures. 

Who can apply for it?

Any interested person of legal age, or person with authorization from the interested party.

In the event that the certificate must be issued in the name of a deceased person, the spouse, children, parents or testamentary heirs may request it, and the relationship must be justified by documentation.

What documentation must be submitted?

- Original NIF, community identity card and NIE certificate, NIE card or valid passport.

- If the person requesting it is the spouse, children or parents, original of the Family Book.

- If the person requesting it is a testamentary heir, the will or certificate of last will.

How much does it cost?

This procedure is not free.
