Department of Economic Development

The mission of the department is to promote sustainable, inclusive and innovative economic development in El Prat de Llobregat, promoting business activity, entrepreneurship, the social economy and the generation of quality employment. The Department works to improve people's job opportunities, strengthen the competitiveness of the local economic fabric and promote a growth model aligned with economic, social and environmental sustainability, which contributes to the well-being of citizens and the progress of the municipality.

The general objectives are:

• Promote entrepreneurship, the creation and consolidation of companies, as well as innovation and competitiveness of the local productive fabric.
• Improve people's employability through orientation, training and job placement programs adapted to the challenges and transformations of the labor market.
• Promote the generation of quality employment, reducing labor inequalities and favoring the inclusion of groups with the most difficulties in accessing the labor market.
• Promote the economic transformation of the municipality towards activities with greater added value, with special attention to digitalization, innovation, environmental sustainability and new productive opportunities.
• Promote an attractive environment for the retention, growth and attraction of companies that generate wealth and quality employment.
• Promote the social and cooperative economy as a business model committed to social cohesion, democratic participation and the social return of economic activity.
• Facilitate collaboration between administration, companies, social entities, training centers and other agents in the territory to generate opportunities for economic and labor development.
• Support the municipality's strategic economic sectors, including local commerce, sustainable tourism, the green economy, the digital economy and the territory's own identity and productive assets.
• Preserve and enhance local resources that contribute to the differentiation and economic development of the municipality.
• Ensure that the economic development of El Prat generates positive and balanced impacts in the economic, social and environmental dimensions.
